My approach

My work is grounded in person-centred counselling, which means that the relationship we build is central to the process. I aim to offer empathy, warmth, and acceptance, creating a space where you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts and feelings honestly, without judgement or pressure.

I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to support you in understanding yourself more fully and finding your own way forward. We work at your pace, focusing on what feels most important to you.

Alongside person-centred counselling, I may gently draw on other approaches where they feel helpful and appropriate. These may include:

  • CBT-informed tools or worksheets, to help explore patterns of thinking and behaviour

  • Mindfulness and grounding techniques, to support emotional regulation and awareness

  • Creative or play-based techniques, adapted for adults, to explore feelings in a different way

  • Inner child and parts-of-self work, to gently explore earlier experiences and internal conflicts

  • Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Any tools or techniques are always offered collaboratively, and you are free to choose what feels right for you. There is no expectation to use a particular approach, and nothing is ever forced.

Whether we are working face-to-face or online, my aim is to offer a consistent, supportive, and ethical counselling relationship where you feel respected, heard, and understood.
